Traffic engineering changes are needed at Murányi/Százház Street

Murányi Street 2.
Category: Traffic engineering
Status: Solved
Verseny Street was temporarily made one-way due to sewerage, which makes it extremely difficult to get to Jobbágy Street if someone is not coming from the city center, but from Dózsa György Street. The only way to do this is to further increase the traffic jam on Thököly Street towards the city, because we have to go all the way to Keleti, which is the most critical and busiest part, causing additional traffic. On the other hand, this has made getting home at least 10-15 minutes longer. Several houses on Jobbágy Street have garages (our house alone has about 230 garage spaces, the house opposite is bigger, there are certainly even more, plus an outdoor parking lot and the police parking lot also open from here, so the problem affects about 700-1000 drivers parked here, which could also be solved very easily if, at least for the time when Verseny Street is made one-way, the short section of Murányi Street between Százház Street and Verseny Street were made two-way. It is wide enough, there would be room, especially since you can only park about 2 cars on the right side of the street (the other 5 parking spaces are for standing and waiting, so you can't park in the first place) so at most, we would have to take away those two parking spaces so that this section of the street would be very wide. That way, we wouldn't have to increase the traffic jam on Thököly from the direction of Dózsa György Street and pointlessly to rush to Keleti, but by turning onto Százház Street we could reach Murányi in a matter of moments, and from there to Jobbágy Street. I would like to note that this approximately 100-meter section of Murányi Street is not very busy, I have seen someone turning from Százház to Murányi simply reverse on this 100-meter one-way section to Verseny Street… So this dangerous method of reversing should be legalized by making this 100-meter section two-way at least for the duration of the closure of Verseny Street. Thank you for forwarding and taking a look, many of us would benefit from it if these approximately 700-1000 cars did not have to spend 15 minutes, increasing the traffic jam to the city. 2023/05/07 sent to the district representative, Éva Bónus and BKK and Budapest Public Transport 2023/06/13 reply from Budapest Public Roads “The construction of the gas pipeline in the VII. district Verseny Street was carried out based on temporary plans with the consent of the traffic engineering manager. The temporary plan included the solution that the applicant also suggested, i.e. the section of Murányi Street between Százház Street and Verseny Street was temporarily two-way traffic. Unfortunately, the contractor and the traffic engineering specialist did not build this. We have drawn the attention of both companies to the deficiency. The gas pipeline construction work has been completed, so it is likely that the two-way street section proposed by the applicant will no longer be converted to two-way traffic. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
